Mill-turn productivity boost
Medical firm reports cycle time savings of nearly 30% after installing new mill-turn centre.
In the mid 1990s, Chas A Blatchford & Sons bought an Index G200 mill-turn centre, having decided it was the best machine for manufacturing metal components used in prosthetics for lower limbs. 15 years on the company reappraised machines on the market and concluded that this technology still delivered the most appropriate solution. So to replace the ageing machine - that has been running 24 hours a day since it was installed – Blatchford bought another G200 through UK agent, Geo Kingsbury Machine Tools. It is of identical construction with two turrets and twin opposed C-axis spindles, but has undergone significant improvements since the original was introduced.
